Tottenham 2-3 Arsenal: Player Ratings

Mikel Arteta's Premier League table toppers survived a late rally from Spurs to seal a vital victory in the north London derby to once again prove lords of the manor.

The Gunners raced into a 3-0 lead through an own goal by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, prior to Bukayo Saka slotting home a second, before Kai Havertz made it 3-0 after only 38 minutes.

However, the North London derby is never as simple as that, and despite Arsenal coasting at 3-0 midway through the second half, a mistake by David Raya let in Cristian Romero to pull a goal back and enliven the home supoprt - which had been stunned into silence.

As the clock ticked down, Declan Rice - who had been immense from start to finish prior to a meoment of madness when he caught Ben Davies in the box -leading the VAR instructing referee Michael Oliver to check the monitor, before awarding a spot-kick to the home side with five minutes remaining.

Up stepped Son to reduce the deficit at 3-2 - but the Gunners showed character to hold on for a vital victory . and cement their place at top with their north London derby win.

Player Ratings: Spurs 2-3 Arsenal 

GK: David Raya - 7/10 - Showed character with plenty of safe aerial takes despite being under pressure. Then gifted Spurs a goal when Arsenal were coasting. Proved a safe pair of hands apart from that and played his part in helping to secure a vital victory 

RB: Ben White - 8/10 - A real thorn in Spurs side when keeper Vicario was dealing with corners. Another outstanding display from the best right-back in the country on current form

CB: William Saliba - 8/10 - Superb as ever. A class act. Calm and composed with pace to burn

CB: Gabriel Magalhaes - 8/10 - Solid and reliable to help secure the three points when Arsenal were under the cosh late on

LB: Takehiro Tomiyasu - 7.5/10 - Another who gives his all as such a dogged defender 

CM: Declan Rice - 8/10 - Outstanding from first till last bar a brain fade when taking ben Davies out for their penalty. Showed immense character to refuse to hide and helped the Gunners see out an important triumph 

CM: Thomas Partey - 7.5/10 - Dovetailed well with Rice and Odegaard and excelled in defensive duties 

CM: Martin Odegaard - 7/10 - Not his most influential game offensviely but never stopped working and led his team as captain once again

RW: Bukayo Saka - 8/10 - Scored despite being kicked halfway down Tottenham High Road 

CF: Kai Havertz - 8/10 - Led the line well and deserved his goal and assist for Saka 

LW: Leandro Trossard - 7.5/10 - Lively but faded but another who played his part in winning three points
