Three at the back

Post by Nos89 »

There seems to be a great furore over Conte using 3 at the back. It's a formation that's been around for years and didn't Graham use it in the last 10 games of 88-89 season? Famously Steve Bould trotting out at Anfield on that great night with the number 10 on his back.

Wasn't it 5-4-1 at Anfield 89?

It's mad to think that TOF would ever change his tactics now. Still, three at the back could work. 3-5-2, or 3-2-3-1-1.

---------------- Ospina

Koscielny - Mustafi - Holding

----------- Xhaka - Elneny
----- Walcott - Ozil - Oxlade

--------------- Sanchez
--------------- Welbeck

Christ, our midfield is full of bottlers/idiots :banghead:

To be fair, if we did play 3 at the back, the wingbacks would be Bellerin and Monreal/Gibbs... not fucking Walcott!!!!   (just as Chavs wingbacks are Alonso and Moses; it's not a position for attacking wide players)

Well this is The Old Fraud we're dealing with

He has no respect for defence. Then again, as our alleged 'full backs' play like out and out wingers and always go AWOL from our defence... :banghead:

The biggest irony is that we have suffered so much by giving our full backs near-unlimited licence to bomb forward without caution, despite having some of the most impotent full backs around in the past decade.

Clichy, Sagna, Gibbs, Monreal - all awful going forward and none can deliver a decent ball into the box. Bellerin is the best of the lot but frankly he is in the Kyle Walker mode (and not the one that terrorised Neil Taylor in France) - his pace makes him look far more dangerous than he is.

Fucking Nostradamus in this thread

TOF has finally been desperate enough to do three at the back.

------------------- Ospina

--- Koscielny - Mustafi - Holding

Oxlade - Xhaka - Elneny - Monreal

-------------- Sanchez - Ozil

------------------ Welbeck
