Re: Declan Rice
West Ham have just communicated to Arsenal that they’re accepting £100m plus £5m add-ons fee for Declan Rice.
The two clubs remain in talks over deal structure & payment terms — as West Ham want £100m to be paid within 18 months.
Final discussions and then… done deal.

For Retro with love n hugs

He does appear to offer so much protection to the back 4 (3 next season ?)
More than I thought to be fair, he shows great desire to win the ball back and actually gets goal side or level to make a tackle with suprising pace ( or am I just used to Xhaka ? )
On a plus note Xhaka gone surely, fingers crossed

I don’t think we can pay it that quick. So they either accept it as we wish to pay it or they lump it.mcdowell42 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 6:23 pmWest Ham have just communicated to Arsenal that they’re accepting £100m plus £5m add-ons fee for Declan Rice.

An impressive collection of his work and while it was making me think that perhaps he has more ability than I've given him credit for, I did remind myself that these "collage" videos can make a Sunday leaguer look like Messi. We've signed no end of stumers in the last 15 years, almost all of whom looked like Pele in these type of vids when we signed them....and I'm including Clubfoot Xhaka.
Still, what I liked was that Rice is quite a unit and strong and uncompromising in the challenge and as you say, he seems to see the danger quickly and get goal side. We haven't had that since the break up of the Invincibles.
What worries me is that he's not replacing Xhaka, but Partey, when we need to be shot of both of them. I can't shake the fear that Rice will be the defensive mid and Clubfoot will carry on getting in the way further forward. I fucking hope I'm wrong.
I also hope that we don't go 3 at the back, because I'm a dyed in the wool 442 man....or a derivative such as 433 etc, but definitely 4 at the back.

Re: Declan Rice
I've said before that I've seen very, very little of Caicedo, but I've liked what I have seen and I've got a nagging feeling that he'll be the real deal at the chavs....assuming that's where he ends up.
It makes no sense to me that we were prepared to pay 80+ million in January, but seem to have shown no interest since this window opened. You don't offer 80+ m for a bloke that you think might or might not work out, so why the change of heart?

Re: Declan Rice
Maybe he had been tapped up by Chelsea in the mean time ….so we were aware that he intends to go there on more than we will pay ? They have been offloading players left right and centre, so would make senseRetro Gunner wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 7:49 pm

Re: Declan Rice
I’m hearing that the deal is done in every way except for the legal documents, which is just a matter of formality.
I don’t know if he’s the answer but at least the club have managed to make a big signing early in the window. We’ve been a laughing stock for a few years over our transfer sagas so it’s nice to see a change in that.
