Issue 252 from August 2015 marks the start of The Gooner’s 29th season and the front cover celebrates the arrival of our new goalkeeper who helped Arsene overcome Jose for the first time in the Community Shield, a game which is featured inside.

To mark Petr Cech’s signing there is a bit of a goalkeeping theme to the issue with memories of four great goalkeeping performances featuring Bob Wilson, David Seaman and Jens Lehmann, as well as an article about Seaman’s predecessor between the posts, John Lukic, a much under-rated shot-stopper from the 1980s.

It might already be fading from the memory, but we couldn’t ignore the triumphant end to last season and have two pieces covering FA Cup Final day – one from Stuart Watson who witnessed the 4-0 victory over Aston Villa in the flesh at Wembley and one by Andreas Kokkinos who enjoyed the screening at Arsenal.

This issues interview is with Stewart Houston who talks with Layth Yousif about his role as George Graham’s right-hand man during the 1993/94 European Cup Winners’ Cup campaign. He discusses the importance of the team ethic, how our tactics evolved and also reveals whether the team sung the song which is inextricably linked with the semi-final and final.

All this and much more besides including the figures need to win the league, how to survive the transfer window, the best images from last season and the highlights from the results of the annual Gooner Survey. Plus many of our regulars are back for another year as well – The Spy, Mickey Cannon, Inbox and In the Away End.
