Issue 264 of The Gooner - Published Monday 6th March 2017
Issue 264 of Arsenal’s best-selling fanzine, The Gooner has a healthy mix of writing on current events at the club and a good dose of nostalgia. There is an interview with left back Kieran Gibbs, articles on Granit Xhaka, the injury problems of Welbeck and Cazorla and a discussion of oft referred to ‘Mental Strength’. ‘In the Away End’ delves into the chatrooms of Sutton United around the time of the FA Cup tie against the Gunners and there is a trip report from the match in Bayern Munich.
The notion that Alexis Sanchez deserves better than Arsenal is explored and one writer ponders what might have happened if Arsene Wenger had left the club in 2004. Looking back, the 1994-95 season is remembered in the final part of the George Graham Years series, and there is a piece on a memorable FA Cup replay against Luton in 1986. The changes in the game since The Gooner came into existence 30 years ago are pondered, and the notion that yellow is a lucky colour for Arsenal’s away kit is dissected.
There is an article advocating the benefits for fans of disliking opposition players, and all the usual regulars are present, including Talking Reds, The Spy, Mickey Cannon, Anger Management Inbox, the North Bank Times, the 91st Minute and much more.
