Prologue:
After the greatest night in the history of the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners head back down to earth when they host Brentford in the Saturday evening kick-off in N5.
Mikel Arteta's side produced the most magnificent performance in the 19 years that the stadium has been open, not to mention, arguably, in the club's entire European history when beating the mighty Real Madrid 3-0 on Tuesdasy evening.
With Liverpool 12 points clear it is only a matter of time until Arne Slot's Reds' finally lift the Premier League title, but until then the Gunners still have to continue to fight, not least because until they have mathematically clinched Champions League football for next season, they cannot rest.
Could Thomas Frank's Brentford be the opponents Arsenal need, sandwiched between two legs of their blockbuster Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid?
Arsenal have lost just one of their 10 home games against Brentford in all competitions (W5 D4), gping back to the 1930s when enduring their only defeat against the west Londoners, at Highbury in April 1938, when they lost 2-0.
The Gunners beat the Bees 3-1 on New Year's Day, this year, following goals from Gabriel Jesus, Mikel Merino and Gabriel Martinelli, which cancelled out Bryan Mbeumo's opener.
Yet, even sitting in 12th place, a first ever tilt at European football could be on the cards for Brentford, if results go their way over the next six weeks, and if certain, albeit challenging conditions are met - such as Manchester United lifting the Europa League, Chelsea winning the Conference League - and that's without hoping that Arsenal triumph in the Champions League.
While Arteta is expected to make changes ahead of the second leg in the Bernabeu next week, for continuity's sake surely the boss will keep Jakub Kiwior alongside the peerless William Saliba in light of Gabriel's season-ending injury the Brazil centre-back picked up during the mundane 2-1 win over Fulham on April Fools Day.
Arteta opted for Leandro Trossard and Raheem Sterling as attackers against Everton last weekend, and could well go with the same, even if the Chelsea loanee has now served his one match suspension in Europe, which kept him out of the win against Los Blancos.
While Declan Rice became the first player in Champions League history to score two direct free-kick goals in a knockout stage match, the £105m midfielder was taken off during the later stages of the match against the La Liga giants as a precaution against injury. Which could mean Arteta errs on the side of caution when leaving Rice out of the squad for Brentford.
