Player Ratings: Real Madrid 1-2 Arsenal (1-5 on aggregate)
Arsenal qualified for the last four of the Champions League after a magnificent night in the Bernabeu
Player Ratings:
David Raya: 8/10 - Cautioned by referee Francois Letexier for ‘time-wasting’ before half time. Cool, calm and collected.
Jurrien Timber: 8/10 - Put in a shift up and down the flank
William Saliba: 8/10 - Magnificent. Absolutely magnificent.
Jakub Kiwior: 9/10 - Superb. Absolutely superb. His best performance in an Arsenal shirt
Myles Lewis-Skelly: 8.5/10 - Another superb performance from the talented teenager
Thomas Partey: 8.5/10 - Handed a late yellow after reacting but otherwise was a solid and reliable presence in the heart of battle
Declan Rice: 9/10 - A majestic performance from start to finish. Corner that saw Mikel Merino pulled by Asencio in the box for Saka’s ill-fated spot-kick, but was soon to give away a spot-kick when being adjudged to have fouled Mbappe in the box on 23 minutes before being reprieved. Deserved the luck after such an utterly majestic display
Martin Odegaard: 7.5/10 - Fired narrowly wide late in the match but was not as influential as the Norwegian would have liked to have been
Bukaya Saka: 7/10 - Desperately poor Paneka-style penalty that allowed Courtois to save easily, and give the thunderous Bernabeu an excuse to become even louder. Showed composure to slot home on 65 minutes to put the Gunners ahead before being replaced by Leandro Trossard on 76 minutes having given his all
Mikel Merino: 7.5/10 - Had his shirt pulled by Asencio for Arsenal’s penalty. Headed Rice’s second half cross over the bar
Gabi Martinelli: 8.5/10 - Always worked hard on and off the ball, always a threat whether potent or latent. But to see the young Brazil stars performing a multitude of stepovers on the biggest stage of all in the second half gave hope Arsenal would prevail. Deserved his late goal to make it 2-1
