If there is one word that sums up the extremely talented Salah Oulad M’Hand it has to be 'mercurial'....(after the No10 frustratingly loses possession in the middle of the park)
Interesting to note Young Guns 19-year-old Dutch keeper Tommy Setford has been preferred instead of Khari Ranson after the latter had a disappointing game last time out at Meadow Park during the 2-2 draw with Derby U21s
15 minutes gone and it's still Arsenal U21s 0-0 Newcastle U21s - plenty of endeavour as both sides vye for supremacy
Speaking of Nathan Butler-Oyedeji it was good to see the youngster make his Premier League debut (to go with a Champions League appearance) at Ipswich on Easter Sunday. Testament to his consistency, talent, temperament and technique at this level.
Nathan Butler-Oyedeji heads over with Arsenal dominant in the early stages
And we're off here at Meadow Park
First half goals from Seb Ferdinand, Khayon Edwards and Osman Kamara put the home side in a dominant position at the break on a wet and windy Friday evening at Meadow Park. With the match practically won after a lively opening 45 minutes, the visitors grabbed a consolation through Magpies No9 Jay Turner-Cooke, who fired past Tommy Setford in the Gunners goal. That was before the mercurial Salah Oulad M’Hand fired home a superb direct free-kick to underline the Gunners superiority, which also saw Kamara hit the post.
If it doesn't seem that long ago that Arsenal U21s beat Newcastle U21s 4-1 on a cold and dark evening here at Boreham Wood, then you're right, it wasn't. The Arsenal U21s beat their Magpie equivalents back at the end of February
