Katie McCabe: Arsenal Women’s fans “The best in the league, the best in Europe”

Over 500 travelling fans will cheer on the Gunners in Lyon this weekend

Arsenal Women will be backed by a record number of travelling fans making the trip to Lyon for the Gunners’ Champions League semi-final second leg on Sunday.

Over 400 supporters will make the journey from the UK to France with 530 away tickets sold in total as of Friday, April 25.

Arsenal left-back Katie McCabe told the Gooner Fanzine: “Our fans, I’m biased but I think they're the best in the league, the best in Europe. I think wherever we go, whether it's in Europe or up in the north of England, wherever we're going, they're always there in numbers and cheering us on, singing their chants.

“They always make the new players feel so welcome by making up new chants for them and that connection we have with them is something you can't buy.

“And for us, especially on Sunday, they're going to be so important for us to urge us on and encourage us and give us the energy as they always do.”

Arsenal trail 2-1 to the record Champions League holders but have been boosted by Daphne van Domselaar and Lotte Wubben-Moy returning from injury, with both players in contention for the second leg.

Kim Little did not take part in training on Friday, but Arsenal head coach Slegers said “She’s ok. We manage her and the plan is for her to train tomorrow.”
