Premier League forced to release statement after Leif Davis' shocking lunge on Arsenal's Saka
Premier League confirm Tractor Boys' defender Leif Davis sent off for endangering Bukayo Saka during 4-0 defeat by Arsenal
The Premier League have confirmed Ipswich Town defender Leif Davis was sent off for endangering Bukayo Saka during Arsenal's 4-0 victory over Kieran McKenna's relegation-doomed side at Portman Road on Easter Sunday.
The Gunners' star forward was left crumped by the former Leeds United academy prospect in the first-half after a dangerous challenge through the back of the England international.
Davis caught Saka high on the back of his ankle/achilles inside the Arsenal half, which saw referee Christopher Kavanagh hand the left-back a straight red card.
Injury fears grew when a hobbling Saka was forced off early in the second half to receive ice treatment.
The Premier League's statement read: "The referee’s call of red card to Davis for serious foul play was checked and confirmed by VAR – with the challenge deemed to be endangering the safety of an opponent."
