Lina Hurtig will be unavailable for Arsenal’s Women’s Super League match away at Crystal Palace this weekend, after manager Renée Slegers confirmed she has picked up an injury this week.
The Swedish forward, who has also had to pull out of next week’s Sweden squad, has endured a frustrating spell on the sidelines over the past year.
Hurtig did enjoy some good luck in terms of injuries earlier this season, making a few appearances off the bench, including scoring a late winner against Juventus in Arsenal’s Champions League group stage campaign.
But after returning to the Arsenal squad in March and coming off the bench against Everton and Real Madrid, she faces another spell of rehabilitation.
Slegers addressed the situation in Friday’s press conference:
“She is dealing with it, but it’s very hard, it’s not only physically hard to come back from injuries, and reinjuring, it’s mentally tough. But she’s okay, she’s dealing well with it, she’s calm.
“She’s going to go into the process again of rehabilitation, she’s going to see some family [for] a couple days, so that’s important also.”
Slegers ended by affirming that her and the club are “here to support.”
It’s another frustrating blow for Hurtig, whose resilience continues to be tested.
