“We’ve got to put it all together now” – Beth Mead speaks to The Gooner after Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to Lyon

A frustrating first-leg ended in defeat at the Emirates, Beth Mead spoke to The Gooner after the loss




Beth Mead spoke to The Gooner Fanzine after Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to Lyon in the first leg of their UWCL semi-final. The right-winger had a good performance, continuing her recent run of form and consistent starting position.

She told us about how she is feeling at the moment regarding her recent games:

“I feel good as a footballer right now,” said Mead before going on to discuss the impact she feels she can have on the semi-final second leg. 

“Hopefully I can bring my best game next week and hopefully help the team get it over the line,” she said before stressing the need for the team to work as one to overturn the deficit: “Ultimately as a collective we’ve got to put it all together now.”

Mead spoke about her partnership with Emily Fox which was key in creating somg of Arsenal’s attack today.

“We’ve worked hard this season to try and get it right, create a relationship, and obviously understand each other.” 

She finished by expressing how pleased she is linking up with Fox: “I think we’re in a really good place as a partnership down that right side.”
